About Us & What to Expect - Counselling in Newcastle and Consett

Sarah is the founder of Reach for Solace and is also a qualified therapist.

"I believe with the right support, we can all achieve positive change. I’m an integrative therapeutic counsellor working with Transactional Analysis, CBT and Gestalt. I can also work creatively with you to bypass cognitive defences and work with your subconscious on a deeper level of exploration and bring about positive change.

I deeply attune to you & respond to your individual needs, shaping my therapeutic approach accordingly. I assist you in the learning of useful coping & self soothing techniques to help you to feel better in the present.

I have a wealth of clinical experience having worked in both the public & private sectors and currently work as the lead therapist at 'Reach for Solace'."

Sarah Faulkner has experience working with bereavement, stress, panic, low self esteem, low self confidence, depression, abuse (mental and sexual), abortion, bullying, anger and relationship difficulties in couples and individual counselling..

"Hello my name is Claire and I am a fully qualified, integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor. I have a Person Centred approach and the modalities I use are Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I am also a qualified and accredited hypnotherapist working in Newcastle & Consett.

You will be able to talk freely in a completely non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment to explore the roots of your issues so that you can find your way to overcome them.

After suffering from anxiety for many years myself, it is a personal area of interest for me and I can fully understand how much of an impact anxiety can have in all aspects of your life and your relationships.

I believe we become emotionally unwell because we do not know how to manage the sudden and overwhelming emotions of a certain situation. Talking therapies help to you to deal with your emotions and come to terms with what happened and allow us to find more suitable ways to overcome and cope with these emotions."

People can deny their 'negative' emotions due to feeling overwhelmed, confused, helpless and they can often lack in helpful coping mechanisms and the ability to self soothe. Clients can learn to self soothe by learning from our therapists often using the voice of the therapist until their voice becomes stronger and kinder which can bring about positive change.

Reach for Solace therapists have a wealth of clinical experience working in the public and private sectors and they all have CPD (continued professional development) and are MBACP Registered (Members of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy)

Therapy can help to understand where your opinions and beliefs came from and how you came to be where you are now.
