Work related illness - Counselling in Newcastle and Consett

Counselling for Business Employees: A counsellor will hold face to face talks or telephone counselling which supports businesses' work colleagues to help solve personal and work related problems.

Where applicable, staff return to work within a shorter time frame and are emotionally lighter.

Stress & Work Related Illness: Demanding life circumstances can lead to physical, mental and/or emotional strain which can leave us feeling tense, worried and anxious. People under a lot of stress may experience headaches, minor pains and sleeping difficulties which can lead to prolonged absences from work. Health and wellbeing is crucial to businesses employees and for staff to know they have a place to talk without the worry of confidentiality issues or judgement our counsellors can be invaluable.

We can all worry from time to time but when people feel they can no longer cope with juggling it all and that everything feels like a priority then normally something has got to give. More often than not that 'something that gives' is a persons mental stability resulting in absence from work. We can provide support that helps get people back on their feet and returned to work quicker and with more self awareness to watch out for triggers that contributed to their decline in the first place.

Anxiety is the most common mental health issue and there are lots of people who suffer in silence. People are fearful of the stigma from mental health and how they may be treated differently or be seen not to be coping in the work place. We can help people understand their thoughts, feelings, behaviour, triggers, find helpful coping mechanisms and learn to be kinder to themselves. When people struggle with anxiety they can speak to themselves in a negative, critical and condemning way believing they 'should be able to get it together' and 'sort themselves out.' This is not only unhelpful but damaging to a persons self esteem.

Anxiety/Panic: Experiencing occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. Often, anxiety disorders involve repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety and fear or terror that reach a peak within minutes (panic attacks).
